The Imprint and the Wizard
March 23rd, 2004Bane narrowly escapes transformation into a shallow clone of a once-mighty mage. (sab)
Pleased to acquire several powerful new spells, Bane found himself subjected to a number of uncontrollable urges. Beware the symptoms:
You have dreams in which you commit heinous acts of pure evil.
You whisper “I am Keraptis” over and over again until someone calls attention to your behavior.
You are aware of a powerful alternate consciousness observing your thoughts from within. The sensation fades before its source can be determined.
Whisper “I’ll kill you all in your sleep” until someone calls attention to your behavior.
Make sketches of a giant crab on a piece of scrap paper.
Ask someone at random:
Round she is, yet flat as a board
Altar of the lupine lords
Jewel on black velvet, pearl in the sea
Unchanged but e’erchanging, eternally.
Attack if they fail to give you the correct answer.
Unfortunately, there is no known means to counteract the effect, and the subject is reduced to a drooling idiot in the space of several weeks. Unless, of course, he manages to obtain a complete imprint, in which case he entertains the delusional belief that he is Keraptis, returned from death. Neither is a particularly pretty fate.
