The Letter

March 28th, 2004

The party finds a coded missive to Gulthias from an old, mysterious nemesis, Ren. (sab)

Dearest G.

This letter is to inform you of an upcoming event that I believe will interest you.
Keep this note, as it will serve as your guest pass. Many friends, including
everyone that you met on your last visit will be there. It should be quite fun. In the
event that you cannot attend, please send me a note. Your attendance, as befits you, is
particularly desired.

So that you know what to expect, I should tell you that the event will be formal;
each person who attends the festivities will be attired in their finest, no doubt.
Could you be sure to wear your best tuxedo? I am hoping it will have its
usual effect on she whom we most need to influence! There will be many there
reciting poems, performing musical instruments, and so forth, so it should be an
educational experience as well. And of course the performers will be the highest quality,
demanding therefore our respect; thus the formality that is not usual to one of my
gatherings.

All is well with you, I hope. Certainly I cannot imagine anything too tragic in
that place of yours which you find so ideal. I hope of course that you are willing,
even if not precisely eager, to travel to my little party. Curse me for a fool! I
almost forgot to tell you when it shall be. It’s still cold here, so I thought a slightly
later season would be best. Also, I’ve been afraid of the very late rains which,
in the early part of spring, seem to come too often, and you know how hot summer
gets. And that, given our formal garb, would be uncomfortable, even intolerable!
No, the last month of spring it will be. I very much look forward to seeing you on the
3rd day of that glorious time.

May your days till then be happy and safe,
