A Kind of Respite

July 24th, 2004

Between battles, the party tries to calm the Blasingdell citizenry; Bane and Psydney acquire unexpected proteges. (sab)

The weather worsens, and control spells are moderating, but not reversing it…a massive lightning storm threatens to move in from the mountains to the North. Some villagers are afraid, but you walk the town and their fear turns to determination. On occasion, you see Serge’s hand slip to his sword hilt when dealing with a particularly hysterical citizen.

Purcell continues to monitor the Glitterhame, with special focus on the passage that apparently connects to Underdark. The Ghaele assigned to that post reports the presence of a large underground city of Duergar, some miles away (he’s not sure exactly how far. When you’ve got the ability to teleport at will, measuring distance isn’t very interesting).

Your presence is having other effects as well. In a town of several thousand people, there are bound to be a few special individuals, and they’re starting to crop up….

After her query to Psydney, Callie has become unresponsive and withdrawn. Psydney tries to probe her mind gently but meets a blank wall, behind which can be heard some faint sound…crying? yelling? She cannot tell.

Haissha comes to Bane after treating minor burns on a young boy by the name of Alban. Apparently he was watching Bane casting spells during the battle when his cloak caught fire for no apparent reason. Luckily his parents had the presence of mind to quickly douse him with water from a nearby trough. Bane studies the charred cloak and confirms Haissha’s hypothesis that the boy had spontaneously cast a cantrip.
